A pedagogical approach
Mental training is now almost systematic in high-level sport, but more and more practitioners are using it regardless of their level of practice. It is a pedagogical approach, a training that consists of developing your mental skills in order to optimize your personal or collective performance while promoting pleasure and autonomy. It is a question of providing you with a real useful and effective toolbox that you can quickly use independently. In my office, these tools are implemented as part of two main disciplines:
- Sports sophro-pedagogy (sophrology adapted to sport)
- The OxygenAdvantage method. (functionnal breathing)
The first session is generally quite long because it is important to clearly understand your expectations and needs so that you can establish a goal to work towards. It is also during this first session that the relationship is established (or not :-). It is essential that the entire mental preparation process is based on mutual trust and transparency. Everyone must maintain their free will throughout the process. Following this first session, I set up a program tailored to your request that you will discover in the next session in order to confirm (or modify) the trajectory. It is essential that the work focus makes sense to you. Most often, it involves pruning rather than overloading, freeing rather than constraining, to find the path that will allow you to deliver a performance in competition equal to those you can provide during your best training sessions, limiting mental noise by anchoring yourself in action and finally transform the stress of competition into a fertile vector for surpassing yourself. For each person, this path is different and is built with the levers and milestones that are yours.
Teamwork
To do this, I will need to exchange and sometimes work with your coach. It is a team effort between the athlete(s), the coach, and the mental trainer.
I can help in the following
- Objectify the setting of sports goals
- Clarify motivational factors
Improve self-confidence
- Limit negative thoughts
- Reinforce positive inner speech
- Take things for what they are
- Improve the integration of the body diagram
- Stress management
- Emotions management
- Facilitate sports technical learning
- Promote recovery, relaxation and dynamization
- Control attention span and optimize concentration
- Allow you to get to know yourself better
- Refine the ability to perceive and facilitate memorization
- Strengthen team building
A fast path to autonomy
For support on a specific theme, the protocol generally lasts from 8 to 12 weeks at a rate of one hour per week.
A more in-depth follow-up can be considered, particularly for high level athletes.
Get in touch
Whatever sport you practice, you have a great ambition and the desire to be accompanied in your progress to achieve your goals, you are going through a moment of doubt, an injury, a drop in performance, do not hesitate to give me a call or send me a message. A direct exchange is better than long texts or
great speeches. My practice is located in Sommarøy, Tromsø, north of the Arctic Circle, but online video consultations make it possible to break down distances. Don’t hesitate to get in touch.
