This Hobie Kayak expedition is a true hymn to freedom and nature for those who love exploration and camping life. On board our Hobie Tandem Island kayaks, a playful trimaran perfectly suited for this type of journey, you will be able to access stretches of coastline or deserted islands that are not served by road or ferry. Along the way, you will get close to seabirds and glide silently into the heart of mysterious little coves without disturbing or disrupting nature. Our sailing kayaks are very stable (they are three meters wide) and easy to handle, even for beginners. During this five-day journey, on-land hikes are not forgotten. The kayaking stages are short enough to allow, once the camp is set up, to explore the surrounding mountains and widen the range of emotions already gathered along the water. The departure and return of this expedition are from the small island of Sommarøy facing the northern coast of Senja island. That is where we established our base camp. Sommarøy island is at the end of the road. It is home to a small fishing village nestled in the heart of a beautiful archipelago protected from swells by natural barriers with turquoise waters. At the edge of the fjords and the open sea, it is the domain of otters, puffins, and fish-eagles. The white sandy beaches give a curious tropical touch to these steep and wild northern landscapes. There are vast opportunities for camping in well-protected shelters and hiking. The hiking trails allow for exploration off the beaten path.
