Description

Welcome aboard an unforgettable journey!

The region of Kvaløya and Senja, offers great prospects for those who wish to discover the Norwegian fjords in winter and snowshoeing. The gentle and accessible valleys are succeeded by the steep massifs that give an alpine dimension to the landscapes.

An eco-lodge as a base camp on the beach

Our eco-lodge “Båthuset” will be your base camp. It will quickly become the “Home Sweet Home” that is good to find at the end of a breakaway.

The magic of the Northern Lights

Mid February, beginning of March the days are more than enough for snowshoe races. Back at the lodge, the evenings are an opportunity to observe the unique and fascinating spectacle of the Northern Lights.

Reasonable temperatures at 69 degrees of latitude North!

Thank you Gulf Stream 🙂
Here, the sea does not freeze. Temperatures remain around -5°C while we are at 69°38′ (342 km north of the Arctic Circle). This unique climate is unique in the Arctic. Only the Norwegian coasts benefit from it thanks to the Gulf Stream, everywhere else, in winter, it is -350C at equal latitude and the sea is completely frozen.

We insure all aspects for a successful journey

The package includes not only a first-rate eco-lodge and the resources of a professional sport instructor, we also insure, point by point, all aspects for a successful journey. Leave the worry to us: we live in the area year round, we speak the language of the country, we know local ways and customs, as well as the constraints imposed by the activities we organize. We undeniably bring a plus to the groups who come to us and fully trust our vigilance.

Program

Program of the trip

D0: arrival at Tromsø airport on Saturday, 19:00 transfer to Sommarøy, reception, lodge facility, dinner.
D1 to D6: From Sunday to Friday, the program is not fixed and will be decided in real time according to the conditions of the moment in order to optimize the discovery of the immense and generous surrounding nature. The possibilities of snowshoes hiking are vast and allow off-track hiking on slopes ranging from 400 to 900 meters. There is something for all tastes and all levels. The walks are based on the overall group level. Walks are suited to meet everyone’s preference. Our trips are not made for extremists. That will undoubtedly leave you with unforgettable memories. The snow does not change during the day, it is not necessary to get up in the middle of the night. The terrain is hilly and rises gently to be able to admire the fjords and the magical landscapes that are available to us.
Return to Sommarøy after 4 to 6 hours of hiking.
Saturday, transfer to the airport after breakfast

Practical

Practical Information

Personal gear you will need to bring along

For the treks: gloves, muffs, ski mask, Goretex. Temperatures may be low, so come with warm clothing. Of course, we have a first aid kit, but it’s a good idea to take along the one that “never leaves your bag”.

For the evenings: slippers, extra dry clothing. To step outside, a warm waterproof jacket.

Think of bringing enough power bars for the mountain. Each of us has his/her own habits and personal preferences with respect to power bars, so we do not supply them.
